McCRAY
NOMINATION TO GROUNDWATER CONTROL BOARD APPROVED
On Wednesday, October 19, 2005,
the Shelby Country Board of Commissioners
unanimously approved the nomination of David
D. McCray to the Shelby County Groundwater
Control Board.
McCray was nominated by County
Mayor A.C. Wharton to fill the vacancy on the
board left by P. Wayne Langley.
McCray is President of
Tri-State Testing, Inc., a Memphis based
firm that specializes in environmental and
geotechnical drilling in many diverse fields.
McCray’s experience in subsurface investigation,
monitoring well installation for compliance with
EPA guidelines (such as RCRA, CERCLA and
Superfund) and remedial action, including
recovery wells and soil vent systems, will
provide a valuable base of knowledge to the
Board.
Founded in 1988, the Shelby
County Ground Water Control Board established
regulations to protect the area’s water supply
and brought together representatives from MLGW,
local government, local citizens, and water
experts. It also permits and inspects
monitoring, water production, and residential
wells and deep soil borings.
The GWCB serves as a model in the
State of Tennessee and Mid-South Region as an
institutional method to involve stakeholders in
groundwater issues.
